These images are some of my favorites from the Porsche visit. Drinking the beer with me is Herbert Linge, Porsche works driver from the 1950s and 60s along with several of my friends from Porsche Design, including, Thorsten Klein, Freeman Thomas, Grant Larsen and Anthony Hatter.

Hello: these are a tight selection of images from my recent trip to Stuttgart where I visited the new Porsche Museum as well as the Mercedes Museum and the Mercedes Classic Center.

1953 Carrera PanAmericana

These are new images from my archive. They were taken in November, 1953 at Tuxtla Gutierrez,Mexico before the start of the Mexican Road Race. The pictures of the Porsche Spyders with the driver Karl Kling on hand with the mechanics as they prepare the cars for the race.

The Ferrari image is of Phil Hill and Richie Ginther working on their car in the garage a day or two before the start. Unfortunately, they crashed early in the race but were able to walk away from what was a serious accident.

Lastly is the French Gordini driven by Jean Behra. His mechanic works on the car,again in the garage in Tuxtla near the start. Behra did not finish the race due to mechanical problems.

Viva Kennedy

I have been going through my archive and remembered that I had shot images of Bobby Kennedy at Delano, California and in San Francisco when he was running for President in 1968. At Delano he had come to visit with Caesar Chavez who was fasting to bring attention to the cause of the farm workers.

In San Francisco I photgraphed him as he was approaching the SF Press Club to give a speech.

THE FLAG DROPS...

Hello,

We are working on my DVD, which will be a combination of stills and 16mm movie footage, which I shot in 1953 and 1954. Working title is THE FLAG DROPS---it promises to be a fun product and I will have more info the closer it gets to being finished. We were hoping to have it for Christmas but that may be problematical.

Jose Gonzalez and his helmet...

Jose Froilan Gonzalez and Juan Fangio came from the same country, Argentina. I took many pictures of Fangio but few of Gonzalez. I came across this black and white shot of Mr G. at Reims in the mid 1950s as he waited in the Reims pits to take his Ferrari out onto the track.

Years later I found myself at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the late 1990s and here he was again in my camera viewfinder. The same man with the same helmet but only a bit more battered. He is in the BRM Grand Prix car that was one of his favorite steeds.

Hello, this is my first effort to join the blog world. Thanks to my assistant, Larry, who has pushed me to make the big jump.

Yesterday I gave a brief talk to a group of high school students

about my work. I was able to show them a few prints and it was

great fun. I do not do this very often but it was great to see the

excitement and enthusiasm for photography.

My advice was shoot pictures all the time-have that camera ready!
